Course Description

This course aims to cover the ‘basic background building blocks’ that need to be considered and then be applied, enabling suitable, appropriately graded exercise programs to be delivered for older adults. The major focus is based on issues related to functional capacity, strength and balance.

Suitability: Cert 3 & 4 Group Exercise Leaders; Allied Health Professionals working with older adults in a group setting.

By the end of the session participants will acquire:

  • Background information and underlying knowledge concerning the older adult enabling appropriately graded programs to be developed and conducted involving ways to progress programs whilst keeping them relevant and safe.

  • With the underlying information gained, be able to apply the knowledge required to plan and teach appropriate exercise programs, considering ways to grade and progress individuals with chronic conditions to maintain and/or reduce the issues that may reduce functional capacity.

This course has been submitted to Fitness Australia for CEC points. If you require a certificate with these points it will be sent to you once approved.
